Silicon Valley Moving & Storage, Inc. (“we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information you share with us. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we share it, and your rights regarding that information.
This policy applies to our website at siliconvalleymoving.com (the “Site”) and to the Silicon Valley Moving mobile application for iPhone, iPad, and Mac (the “App”). Together we refer to the Site and the App as the “Services.” By using the Services, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide directly. Depending on how you use the Services, you may provide:
- Quote and booking details: your name, email address, phone number, moving origin and destination addresses, preferred move date, and details about your move (such as home size, items, and service type).
- Account information: if you create an account in the App, we collect your email address and password, and any name or contact details you add to your profile.
- Photos: if you attach photos of your items in the App to get a more accurate estimate, we collect and store those images.
- Room scans and inventory: if you use the App's room-scanning feature, the App uses your device camera and depth sensors to detect furniture and measure rooms and build a moving inventory for your estimate. The scan is processed on your device, and we do not record or store video. We collect the resulting inventory — such as the list of rooms, items, and estimated dimensions — to prepare your estimate and coordinate your move.
- Messages: if you contact us through the in-App inbox or a contact form, we collect the contents of those messages.
- Purchases: if you buy moving supplies through the App, we collect your order details and fulfillment information (such as a delivery address). Card payments are processed by our payment processor, Stripe, and we do not store full payment card numbers on our systems.
We collect only what is necessary to provide you with an accurate estimate, coordinate your move, operate your account, and fulfill purchases.
Information collected automatically. When you use the Services, we automatically collect certain technical information, including your IP address, browser or device type, app version, pages or screens viewed, and referring URL. On the Site, this is collected through the analytics services described in Section 5. The App does not currently use third-party analytics or tracking software; our servers retain standard request logs needed to operate and secure the App. If you enable push notifications, we also store a device token provided by Apple so that we can send you notifications about your quotes, bookings, and move.
2. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Respond to your quote requests and inquiries
- Coordinate, schedule, and track your move
- Create and manage your account
- Process and fulfill moving-supply purchases
- Communicate with you about your move, bookings, and account, including by email, text message, and in-app notifications
- Send marketing communications about our services and promotions, where permitted
- Improve our Services and user experience
- Analyze website traffic and usage patterns
- Comply with legal, accounting, and reporting obligations
You can opt out of marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email, and opt out of marketing texts by replying STOP. By providing your phone number, you consent to receive calls and text messages about your move and bookings, and marketing texts only where you have opted in. Message and data rates may apply. Opting out of marketing does not stop transactional messages about an active move or booking.
3. How we share your information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share personal information only as follows:
- Service providers that help us operate the Services under contract, including Supabase (database and authentication hosting), Vercel (website and backend hosting), Supermove (our moving-operations and customer relationship management platform, which receives your quote and move details, including any room-scan inventory, to coordinate your move), Stripe (payment processing), Google (website analytics), Mailchimp (email delivery and marketing), and an SMS provider (text-message delivery). These providers may process your data only to perform services for us.
- Moving network partners. As an interstate agent for Bekins Van Lines, we share the customer and shipment information necessary to plan and perform interstate moves with Bekins Van Lines and, where applicable, origin or destination agents that handle your shipment.
- Legal and safety. We may disclose information when required by law, to enforce our agreements, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our customers, our company, or others.
4. Cookies and tracking technologies
Our Site uses cookies and similar technologies to operate the Site and to understand how visitors use it.
- Essential cookies are required for the Site to function and cannot be disabled.
- Analytics cookies and tools. We use Vercel Analytics, which collects anonymized, aggregated data about page views and visitor counts and does not use cookies, and Google Analytics (GA4), which uses cookies to collect usage data about how visitors interact with the Site, including call activity originating from the Site.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect certain Site features. The App does not currently use cookies or third-party tracking technologies.
5. Third-party services
The following third parties may process your data in connection with the Services:
- Supabase: database and account authentication for the App. See Supabase's privacy policy.
- Vercel: hosting for our website and backend. See Vercel's Privacy Policy.
- Supermove: our moving-operations and customer relationship management platform, which receives your quote, move details, and any room-scan inventory to coordinate your move. See Supermove's privacy policy.
- Stripe: payment processing for moving-supply purchases. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.
- Google Analytics: website usage analytics. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- Mailchimp: email delivery and marketing communications. See Mailchimp's Privacy Policy.
- SMS provider: delivery of text-message updates you have opted into.
- Apple: App distribution and standard app diagnostics you choose to share with Apple. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
6. Your California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act:
- Right to know: You can request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, and how we use and disclose it.
- Right to correct: You can request that we correct inaccurate personal information we hold about you.
- Right to delete: You can request that we delete the personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain exceptions.
- Right to opt out of sale or sharing: You can opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. We do not sell or share your personal information.
- Right to limit use of sensitive personal information: You can direct us to limit the use of sensitive personal information (such as account log-in credentials) to what is necessary to provide the Services.
- Right to non-discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.

7. Data retention
We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, including to satisfy legal, accounting, or reporting requirements.
- Quote request data is retained for up to 24 months.
- Account information is retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward.
- Move contracts, billing, and transaction records are retained as long as required for accounting, tax, and legal purposes, which is generally up to seven years.
- Analytics data is retained according to the policies of our analytics providers.
8. Data security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is fully secure.
9. Your account and account deletion
If you have an App account, you can review and update your information in the App. You can delete your account, and the personal information associated with it, directly from within the App, or by contacting us at staff@siliconvalleymoving.com. We will delete your data subject to records we are required to retain for legal, accounting, or tax purposes.
10. Mobile application permissions
The App may request your permission to access your device's camera, depth sensors, and photo library. Camera and photo-library access let you attach photos of your items to a quote, and camera and depth-sensor access power the room-scanning feature, which measures your rooms and furniture on your device to build a moving inventory. The App may also ask permission to send push notifications about your quotes, bookings, and move. You can grant or deny these permissions, and change them at any time in your device settings. Denying a permission may limit related features.
11. Children's privacy
The Services are not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect or sell the personal information of minors under 16. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the Services after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
